Your mattress will have been a significant investment, and you may have spent many hours researching your options to help you make the right choice. Your mattress will ensure that you get the sleep that you need to remain happy and healthy, so it makes sense to look after it. With the proper care, your mattress will serve you well for as long as 10 years.
Airing Your Mattress
When your mattress is delivered, remove any packaging and allow it to air for at least four hours before you attempt to use it. Airing will remove any unpleasant aromas caused by the plastic packaging or which have developed during storage.
You should continue to air your mattress regularly. The best time to do this is when you are changing your bedding, and there are a few simple steps to follow:
- Remove all covers including the mattress protector
- Open any windows in the room
- Vacuum the mattress to remove any lingering dust
- Leave the mattress to air for a few hours
- Make your bed using clean linen
Protecting Your Mattress
A mattress protector will help to keep your mattress clean and fresh. The protector should be fitted over your mattress and under your bed sheet. It will shield the mattress from spills and stains and should be washed every time you clean your bed linen. Mattress protectors are made from breathable fabric, and both hypo-allergenic and waterproof styles are available. Don’t use plastic sheeting on or under your mattress. This restricts air circulation and may cause condensation to develop.
There are other ways that you can protect your mattress from damage and so prolong its usefulness:
- Don’t sit on the edge of the bed regularly
- Don’t allow children to use the mattress as a trampoline
- If you store your mattress for any length of time, store it lying flat
- When carrying or flipping your mattress, try not to bend or twist it
- Don’t lift your mattress using the handles on the side. These are designed to help you adjust the mattress’s position and may tear if utilised to carry it.
Cleaning Your Mattress
If you fit a protector, you should be able to shield your mattress from most spills and stains, but accidents do happen! Address spills immediately to prevent the moisture from soaking into the mattress. Mop up any excess liquid with a clean cloth or paper towel. Stains should be tackled with a clean cloth and a little soapy water. Do not soak your mattress! If the stain persists, allow the mattress to dry completely and use an upholstery cleaner. Always refer to the manufacturer’s care instructions before applying any cleaning products.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the medium and firm sides?
The firmness you need depends on how you sleep. If you are a heavier-weight sleeper or if you sleep primarily on your stomach, the firm mattress is the best for overall support. If you are an average-weight sleeper or prefer to sleeve your side or back, then the medium mattress is perfect.
What makes the Snuggle Mattress different?
The Snuggle Flippable Mattress is the only one of its kind in Ireland. You get the best of both worlds with this luxury mattress as it is anti-allergy, with luxury pocket springs and breathable fabric, which means no overheating.
I want to return my mattress; what do I do?
Please see our returns policy for more information on returning a Snuggle Mattress.
Does the Snuggle need a special frame?
No. All Snuggle Mattresses are within the EU standard and will fit any standard frame on the market.
